Cargo ship at the quay with a truck carrying steel coils in front

Sea freight is the most economical option for high-volume shipments with flexible transit times. Turna selects a suitable line and service for your cargo and follows the bill of lading and customs processes.

Full container loads (FCL) are dedicated to your cargo; less-than-container loads (LCL) move on a consolidated basis. Pre- and on-carriage by road are planned within the same organisation.

Space is booked with the carrier and container planning is done.

  3. Pre-carriage

Cargo is moved from the loading address to the port.

  4. Customs and bill of lading

Export formalities are completed and the bill of lading is issued.

  5. Ocean leg

The shipment is tracked and arrival information is shared.

  6. Arrival and delivery

Final delivery follows customs clearance at the destination port.

Questions About This Service

What is the difference between groupage and full-load transport?

In a full load the whole vehicle is dedicated to one consignment, so your cargo is not consolidated with others and is not transhipped. In groupage your shipment travels together with other cargo on the same route. Groupage is usually cheaper; a full load is faster and avoids transhipment.

How do I work out the volume of my cargo?

Enter the length, width, height and quantity of each package into the volume calculator. It accepts both centimetres and metres and shows the volume per row as well as the total. You can carry the result into the quote form with one click.

Is my cargo insured?

Our road transport is carried out under CMR insurance, which covers the carrier's liability within the terms of the international convention. Additional cover can be arranged on request depending on the nature and value of the cargo.

What is a bonded warehouse used for?

While goods sit in a bonded warehouse, the duty liability is deferred until they are released. This gives importers flexibility in cash flow and lets them draw the goods down in parts as they are needed.
